A beautiful Challenge-La Vie en Rose

My card today is a challenge for the Color My Heart Color Dare. I've paired it with the MoJo Monday Sketch Challenge. How great is this? I want to make a card and these wonderful people give you a great place to start without having to worry if it's going to work out.

The colors happen to be the flowers from the WOTG La Vie En Rose G1100 from Close To My Heart. The black and white patter is the flip side to the gorgeous flowers.

The stamps are from the stamp set included in the workshop. I stamped the circle with the Archival Black then colored it with several pink and red Shin Han markers then distressed it in Pixie and edged with black. You are Simply Amazing was stamped in Pomegranite Z2653. Of course, I used my favorite embellishment-Shimmer Tape in Black Z1809 and White Z3024.

Just so you can see what can happen with this kit, here are a couple of layouts:

The next layout can either be a single page layout or framed.

It's beautiful paper and with the strong black and white accents it takes some of the "only for girls" out of it.

Please add a comment or shop with me.

It's a Good Time to Think about Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards-Why Should I Make My Own?

I have my Christmas cards all put together and ready to go. I always put a letter in my cards just as a quick update of our year. Since my Mom passed in October, I'm not looking forward to writing this year's letter. I know there will be tears shed but it is important for people who do not live close to me to know she is gone. :-(

Reminder:  The following items are only available till December 31st.

I used the White Pines Cardmaking Workshop On The Go G1099 for the majority of the cards. This WOTG makes 15 cards 5 each of 3 designs.

Here are the components of the kit:

And here are the cards all put together:

Another alternative to this WOTG (which does make lovely cards) but it does take some time and effort to create, are the "Cut Above" card kits. Each kit makes 10 cards and just is so easy to create but the cards still look and are homemade.

The first one is the Cut Above Boughs and Berries Card kit Z3150.

BTW-These Cards are SOOOO Easy to put Together!!!

The second one is the Cut Above Deck the Halls card kit Z3149.

Each kit includes all the pieces for you to put together. The sentiment is stamped in black ink Z2105 or if you like, you could use ruby Z2170 or cranberry inks Z2116 or fern ink Z2650 if you'd like. The sentiments are one of Close To My Heart "M" stamps. They are small and only cost $2.95!!
In addition to these cards, I did create my own cards using the White Pines paper X7200B, Red Shimmer Trim Z1848, Gold Glitter paper Z3076 and the Colonial White Value Pack cards X1410, Cranberry ink Z2116, the Christmas Joy M1126 stamp and one of the stamps from the Twinkle October Stamp of the Month set:

Five Reasons to Make Your Own Christmas Cards:

  • Making your own Christmas cards helps to get you in the mood for Christmas.
  • You start thinking about your family and friends, especially the ones far away.
  • It can give you the warm cozy feelings of the season.
  • This endeavor can bring you the peace and joy of creation.
  • You get to enjoy sharing with the ones you love.

I'm hoping you get a little inspiration to make your own cards. There is the time left to create these cards. Leave me a message to tell me about your cards.

Joys of the Season!

Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge 132

I've created a card from the White Pines paper collection from
Close To My Heart for the Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge.

Here it is:

The sketch that was used to create my card is the following:

I enjoyed making this card mostly because of the glitter paper I used to accent 2 of the pieces ;-).
I do love shiny stuff!!

Here's my list of supplies needed to make this card:

  • Close To My Heart White Pines collection X7200B.
  • Cranberry ink Z2116 to distress the edge of the 2" scalloped circle and to stamp the sentiment.
  • Christmas Joy stamp M1126
  • Gold glitter paper Z3076

Thanks for stopping by!

Getting Back to Blogging

Getting in the Spirit of Christmas

I've been gone for a long time. I didn't realize how long till just now. It's 7:45 PM Texas time (central). I lost my Mom in October so I'm not really in the Christmas mood. Everything is a little strange without being able to call her and make her laugh. I will miss her.

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things so challenges give a deadline and that is what I need.

Here is the Mojo Monday challenge #422:

The papers, inks and stamp I used to make my card are the:
  • Close To My Heart White Pines collection X7200B.
  • Chocolate ink Z2111 to distress the edges
  • Cranberry ink Z2116 to stamp the Christmas Love sentiment October Stamp of the Month.

Christmas needs glitter so the strip of glittery wonderfulness is
  • Red Shimmer Trim Z1848
