Fun with Taste of Summer Papers

Here are two more challenges.

The first one is the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #109

using the Taste of Summer papers I came up with this:

Photobucket
;
I'm also using the Fundamentals paper Adventure assortment and shimmer trim in white and pink. The stamp is in Topiary ink. I stamped the strawberries in Cranberry ink and cut them out and popped them up with foam tape

The second one is MoJo Monday #399

Since I'm in Taste of Summer mode and determined to use these cute papers that are only available to May 31st Here is the card I created with the help of the sketch challenge:

This card also uses the Paper Fundamentals Adventure pack. The slice of orange stamp was stamped with Sunset ink. The Orange You Sweet was Chocolate ink. Yum, orange and chocolate together... I used Bronze shimmer tape and white shimmer tape for the vertical stripe and a "zip strip" from the orange paper for the horizontal stripe.

The papers and stamp set are making for some cute summery cards. Hope you like them!!

Make new Friends but Keep the Old, One is Silver the Other is Gold

The Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge of the week #143 is:

  • Black
  • Daisy White
  • Gold

The papers are discontinued but are too elegant not to use up. Part of scrapbooking and card making is to use your stash of papers, embellishments and, in this case, embossing powders in gold. The powders seem to last forever and still bring a thrill when they start to melt with your heat gun, going from a pointillism look to melted together and shiny. LOVE IT!!!!!

The Embellishments I used are:
The Cards

I always keep cards on hand. I buy the value packs of 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" cards. There 50 cards and envelopes and they come in Daisy White X254 and Colonial White X1410. At $14.95 the cost comes to about $0.30 per card. Just add your LOVE!!

The Stamp
The stamp set is You mean the World to Me B1467

I find myself using this stamp a lot which gives it great value.

The Cuts
The paper cuts are very simple, 5 1/2" X 1 1/2" and 5 1/2" X 2 3/4".

The scalloped squares are cut from the Art Philosophy Cartridge "square 2" on page 33 in the handy dandy cartridge book that allows you to browse through all the zillions of shapes. Yes zillions or close to 700.
  • the black square is 2 1/4 and
  • the gold is 2 3/4"
  • the white cardstock is 2x2.

Let your imagination go wild!!

Hope you like my challenge card. Please leave a message and let me know!

Some of my Favorite Stamps-They can be Yours, Too!!

I'd like to show you some of my faves in stamp sets, today.

I've used some of these on cards that I've done for challenges here on my blog.

  • What I like about particular stamp sets are the versatility they give me. I don't want to buy something and not use it or, worse yet, use it only once.
  • I also like sets that are "open" so they can be colored with water color pencils or Shin Han markers. Coloring is very Zen and relaxing. It takes you to (hopefully) calmer times.

So Cute. I love the cheeriness of daffodils "A Little Note" A1171

This easy small stamp covers a lot of sentiment You Mean The World to Me B1467

Great for a vacation Camper Crazy C1578

OK, it's feathers...who doesn't like feathers?? Feathers C1584

Love this because it has the Cricut cuts and you can cut out lots of flowers and have them ready to go on your next card or page. Pretty Petals C1599

I've used this stamp a lot!!  Happy To Be Friends C1605

You can choose a block that perfectly fits an individual image, or design your own “scenes” by placing multiple images on a larger-size block. You can also manipulate the stamp images on the block to create curves or waves. Stamps have a “memory,” and will always go back to their original shape.
  • My Acrylix® stamps are made of a softer substance than rubber and don’t require as much pressure when in use. My Acrylix stamps provide the same results when used with embossing products, markers, watercolors, and more.

If you're just beginning your My Acrylix stamp set collection, remember to purchase the recommended My Acrylix block that goes with your stamps. How Can I Use The May Specials?

Two of the May Specials are papers The Taste of Summer CC1038 and the Stamp of the Month Just Sayin' S1505

I made a card this morning using the Mojo Monday sketch #398 (this is a website that offers a challenge using a weekly sketch).

Here is the sketch I started with:

Here is the card:

The embellishments I used are discontinued so you can use any embellishments you have in your stash of goodies. I did use the White Shimmer Trim Z3024 in white for a little added bling and used the Scalloped Border Punched Z1851 the edges of the strips. I cut a branch of leaves from the Art Philosophy cartridge Z1686 branch 1 page 43 but you could hand cut them if you wanted.

I'll add more ideas as I make them, so I hope you come back to see them!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Latticework Birthday Card

The colors come from Color My Heart Dare and the beautiful Blossom papers X7196B. Here are the colors for the challenge. I chose to make a card for my Mother who is turning 93 this month. The colors are:

Colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com

Mom loved working in her flower beds and vegetable beds so this is what I picked for her! The latticework and background along with the butterflies and flowers make for a summer-like birthday card for my Mom.

The card is 5x7 and cut from the Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge page 16. The butterfly is from the Artbooking cartridge page 62. The flowers, vine, and scalloped circles were cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge pages 39, 35, 62. The stamp for the flowers is Pretty Petals C1599 and the inks are:
  • Sunset stamp pad Z2191
  • Hollyhock stamp pad Z2128
  • Lagoon stamp pad Z2195
The embellishments are Sparkles Z1752, Junebug Puffies Z3038, and a flower from the Brushed Assortment Z3013.

I have to run to get to the Post Office! Her birthday is this week!!

Combined Challenges So Much Fun!!

I've combined an Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (Sketch #106) with a new color challenge from Color My Heart Color Dare.
The sites are:
http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca/2015/05/sketch-106.html
and
http://colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com/

The Color Dare colors are:

Glacier
Olive
Hollyhock
Chocolate
Kraft

I do like these colors. I love light blue and brown together and pink and green together are just meant to be. So I started off with the Glacier (gorgeous color) and chocolate, which I love for other reasons ;-). Since I've started these challenges, I decided I really like our Paper Fundamentals, this is Glacier from the Whimsy pack. The shiny embossed-like surface, well it's shiny and I like shiny. The flip side is a print version in the particular and white in the same design.

Here's my card:

The stamp is Pretty Petals C1599. It uses the flowers from the Art Philosophy cartridge so you can stamp the image on a already cut flower. Yay!! The stem is straight but I wanted to curve it which is so easy with our acrylic stamps. I used the Olive stamp pad for the stem leaves and greeting. The flower is stamped in Hollyhock ink. The background of the card is kraft paper and the tiny edge around the horizontal rectangle is Chocolate cardstock. There are 2 pieces of white cardstock, one with the flower and greeting which I distressed in Hollyhock ink and the second is distressed in Chocolate ink. The Bakers twine is Olive and white.

Hope you like it!!

Another Adopted Dog is in the House-It's Daisy!

My son decided he wants a dog to have as a running companion. Onto various sites he goes on the search of a dog to fit the idea in his head.  He found a really nice dog on "Craigslist" that fit the bill. She was in a garden home that has a yard that was too small for her. We are on a corner lot that has a large open backyard. Daisy, the name she came with, loves it! She also gets along with our little dog, Ginger (14 lbs. not much of a runner).

So I got inspired by Close To My Heart and their Make It From Your Heart blog:

I thought this was so cute and looked relatively easy, so I a similar page. This uses the Blossom papers and Blossom Complements. Some of the 1" circles are from the Jackson papers. CTMH used the 1" paper punch, I used my 1 1/4" punch which is in "While Supplies Last". They stitched it through the circles, I ran a piece of white and orange bakers twine over the circles. The orange is no longer available but any of the neutral twines would be fine.  I had already used the various Blossom complements (stickers) on another layout so I used 2 zip strips for embellishment and cut out a flower from a scrap of paper.

Here is my layout, with the best embellishment, Phillip, who is trying to get Daisy and Ginger to look at me and smile!! There are ducks in the background having a skirmish....

When you look on the shopping website, don't forget to look in "While Supplies Last" for any Deals and Steals on discontinued items!
