Card Challenge with Central Park Papers

Here is another Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge as well as Atlantic Hearts Challenge. This time I am using the Central Park papers from Close To My Heart.

Here are the challenges:

The Central Park papers are fun, colorful, cheery and whimsical. Perfect for summer fun and festivities.

The supplies I used are:

  1. Workshops Your Way Central Park Scrapbooking kit
  2. Central Park Paper Packet
  3. Pacifica Stamp Pad
  4. Gold Fleck Gems
  5. Silver Shimmer Trim

I have made a lot of cards through the years and I do enjoy doing it. I'm not an artist or designer so I love these challenges to help me come up with these cards or pages. I'm also not great at sending cards so I have quite an accumulation. Lucky for me I do have scrapbook clubs with lots of very nice ladies.

One of them came over this week and started telling me about a friend of hers who makes trips to nursing homes. She brings cards to the people in the home, especially the ones that don't get mail or many visitors. The old folks love these cards. One of the stories this lady shared with my friend hit me hard. A woman was left in the home by her son and daughter (lawyer and dentist). They never visit her and her robe was so tattered that this woman went out and bought her a new one. This made my heart hurt. I told my friend, Mary, that I want to give her friend a pile of my cards. Having these cards get used in such a beautiful way by such a beautiful woman gave meaning and purpose to them.

As I make more cards, I will have this thought in mind. I will also try to send out more cards myself, because how nice would it be to receive something other than junk mail! I feel inspired by this woman I've only heard about.

A Short Story by Stacy

A new product coming September 1, 2018 is our 6 x 6 Story by Stacy. This is Stacy Julian walking us through how to tell an effective story without taking a long time to do it. She prompts us how to think about the important points of the story in order to help write a summary of it. There are instructions for color balance, embellishment balance, ordering the pages, and a great "how-to" that are useful in on our other scrapbooking layouts.

I am very excited about this new product and the other Stacy Julian products we carry in a smaller format (4x4). They make great gifts for family and are a terrific learning tool for our younger story tellers.

My video is a diary of an unplanned trip to NYC in May 2018 when we flew to Long Island to attend my nieces's wedding reception. My son was tired of sitting around the dining room table and talking "family stuff". He wanted to see the city so we took the train into the city early Sunday morning. I gave him the book for his birthday in July.

Hope you enjoy it. The Story by Stacy kit will be available on my website September 1, 2018.

It's been awhile since I've done any challenges and miss the meaning and purpose they give me. Thank you to all the consultants that take their time to put these together and go over the entries. Time is time and nobody has a lot of it. So, again, thank you!!!

Here is my entry:

One thing I don't appreciate until I do a challenge and document all the items I use to do what I think is fairly simple is that I have everything at my fingertips from accumulating items over a period of time (10 years as a consultant and  more as a scrapper). I love that and I can do everything I want or need to do and never have to run out to the store that wastes so much time. WooHoo!

Thank You for Stopping by!

Fresh Air is Great For Everyone!

I love the new papers in our new Seasonal Expression catalog that went live May 1st. I do have to say I am very partial to the Fresh Air papers, though.
Look at the glorious forest scene with the morning fog. Can't you just feel and smell the air? Anything outside will look wonderful on this backdrop. The PML (Picture My Life) cards are perfect complements to these papers.

The Fresh Air Workshop Your Way has great embellishments that also coordinate with these papers.
Our workshops for scrapbooking and card making all have guides that are included in the kits to make creating easy and professional looking. The scrapbooking kits have instructions for making cards that use the remaining papers in the kit and you will still have some paper leftover for other projects. That's three 2-page layouts and 8 cards if you choose to make multiples of all of the designs. It is suggested to get an additional stamp set and maybe thin cuts to make the cards.

Here are my cards from the video I shot creating the cards:

Here is my video:
One of the new Workshops Your Way kits from Close To My Heart is Fresh Air. Along with the 3 layouts there are 4 cards that are included in the how-to guide. I show you how to triple color a stamp as well as put together these easy yet interesting cards.

The cards are very easy to make yet are so cute. I really love the versatility of the stamps and thin cuts make the cutting a breeze!

Using Picture My Life Cards to Make Greeting Cards

Picture My Life cards have so many uses as I'm sure you know. I didn't get it at first, to tell you the truth, but here goes.

  1. They can be used as titles for your scrapbooking pages.
  2. They can be used as embellishments for your scrapbooking pages.
  3. There are somewhat blank cards that can be used for journaling.
  4. They can be mats for pictures.
  5. They can be used in the vertical or horizontal mode.
  6. They are great for the easiest of all scrapbooking, pocket pages where you add cards and pictures in page protectors, no cutting, no stamping, no adhesive. How easy is that?!
  7. AND
  8. They can be used to make all sorts of greeting or occasion cards.
This is what I chose to do to make a card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #261.

Using the Be-YOU-tiful Z4149 Picture My Life 3x4 and 4x6 cards, I created this card in very little time.

The Bashful and green gingham papers and cardstock came fro the Gimme Some Sugar paper pack. The little bit of stamping I did, hi and feel better soon, were from my "M" stamp collection, which is getting quite sizable now. They are small and cover all sorts of occasions. They are very easy to go through when you keep them in the small organizational containers. LOVE THEM!!!!

Supplies used:
  1. Be-YOU-tiful Picture My Life Z4149
  2. Gimme Some Sugar paper pack X7228B
  3. Juniper Ink Pad
  4. Tangerine Ink Pad
  5. Shimmer Trim
  6. Value Pack Cards and envelopes

Family Love-Truly Close To My Heart

A new Color My Heart Color Dare challenge this week got me to try to make a heart that was an inspiration to me. The colors of cardstock I used for this project are Raspberry, Mink and Juniper.

One of the CTMH consultants created a lovely one page layout using four colors in a fallish color theme. I loved it! Sometimes I need a shove, so I decided to use these 3 colors to get me off of square one. Using a heart from one of our CTMH Cricut cartridges, Artistry, I sized it at 9 1/2" and cut a white cardstock heart. I then picked a sheet of each color and cut 1 heart from each color. Stacking the 3 colors and holding them tightly together, I made cuts with my paper cutter keeping the lowest point of the heart as the starting point cutting 1-1 1/2" around each side. I used our Flower Market cartridge and cut a rose at 2 1/2" using a white background and raspberry highlight. I also cut some leaves for a little added interest. I used on of my favorite stamps, What Matters Most D1728, and stamped "family" "love" in raspberry. Bitty sparkles Z1263, lots of them, and a liberal use of the clear shimmer brush over the rose and the seems along the color divides. The center of the rose has a gold glitter gem.

Here is my final product:

The upside to this project is if you are cutting 3 or 4 colors, you can put together 2 or 3 additional hearts. Very cool. One for you and others for friends or family. WooHoo!!!!

Card Challenge for April 12, 2018

I made a card for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge for April.
Color Dare #286--Tic Tac Toe with Stargazer Color Palette
Color Dare #286 - Closes Thur Apr 12th

With that challenge, here is a card I made with my son  in mind (who has always been a fan of Astronomy and anything to do with space).

Using the leftovers of the Stargazer kit, I put this together using the Make It From Your Heart vol. 4 card templates. The rocket is one of the PML cards that I cut down. Crazy easy to do!!

Designer Travel Cases part 2

I did a quick video on the second part of the Designer Travel pieces I received from Close To My Heart recently. The Designer Travel series are cases and luggage that can be used for carrying your scrapbooking supplies to retreats or your friends home, or wherever you are travelling and want to bring all your scrapbooking materials. You don't want your papers to get wrinkled or dogeared so the cases were designed accordingly. You want all your like things, for instance inks, stamps, tools, to be in separate containers for organizational purposes and away from your papers. The Designer Travel system takes all of that in mind.

Here are pictures of all the Designer Travel pieces from CTMH:

Here is my crazy video about some of the pieces:

The Workshop Your Way Cardmaking Kit "You Are More" allows you to create 12 "just because"

Using the Bashful Shimmer Brush you can ice or frost any of the words that are stamped using the Archival Black Ink. I love the stamp set that has hearts and flowers that can be colored in with our Shin Han markers or Watercolor Pencils. The cuts are easy to do with one scallop cut using the Scallop Thin Cut.

An Easy Gift Card Box

I used the Gimme Some Sugar paper to make a gift box for my club on Saturday. They were perfect for a handful of jelly beans as a little spring gift.

You can make these either with a window (oval or rectangle) or without.

Use these thin metal dies to quickly and easily cut the shapes for a 3½" × 2¼" × ¾" folded box and optional windows or tags.
Use with the My Acrylix® In the Background stamp set (D1750) to create patterned numbers.
Thin Cuts are packaged on their own magnetic sheet and work well with most die-cutting machines.

Supplies I used to create the box:

Thin Cuts—Gift Card Box
Gift Card Box Thin Cut Z4150
Gimme Some Sugar paper packet x7228B
Whimsey Ribbon Pack Z3361
Non-Stick Micro-tip Scissors Z1836
Adhesive Runner Z3372

Here's my box:
