The I Heart Us deluxe scrapbooking workshop focuses on assembling a 6" × 8" mini album, creating a wreath by stamping, and paper weaving. This kit makes 1 two-page layout, 2 single pages, and a 12-page 6" × 8" mini album

Hope you want to try making these layouts for your albums. I had a mani-pedi yesterday and sat next to a woman who told me an amazing story of her immigrant family starting with her grandfather. It was the quintessential American story. I asked her if she had this story written down with pictures of the relatives. Well the answer was no, we just pass the story down to the next generation. Ugh!!I should have pressed her more...

Tell Your Story!!! Please.

More Butterflies and Another Sketch Challenge

Using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and the Color Dare Color Challenge for inspiration, I created another card that was made with a nursing home patient in mind. Hearts and butterflies are cheery, happy  elements that I think would bring a smile to someone. So my card has both and I hope it will accomplish the task.

Here are the 2 challenges:

Using one of our new stamp and thin cuts sets, a stitched heart thin cut and a rose embossing folder and a little bit of paper from Feels Like Home, I created this card:

I just had to add the butterfly. If I used a background and texture paper for the Sugarplum strip I probably wouldn't have added the butterfly, but there you go! The sentiment on the inside is from the same stamp set. What beautiful script!

Love these stitched hearts!!
Supplies used to make this card:
  1. Peacock cardstock
  2. Eggplant cardstock
  3. Sugarplum cardstock
  4. White Glitter Paper
  5. Silver Shimmer trim
  6. Intense Black ink pad
  7. Peacock ink pad
  8. Beautiful Friendship stamp and thin cuts set
  9. Playful Scallops embossing folder
  10. Rose embossing folder

Thanks for stopping by!

Butterfly Shaker Card

Using the Mojo Monday 507 sketch and the Color Dare Color Challenge I created a shaker card that I hope will bring happiness to an elderly person in a nursing home. One of my club ladies has a friend who brings homemade cards to people in nursing homes or assisted living homes. She asks if there are folks who are getting few if any visitors. Giving out cards to those people and others brings a little ray of sunshine to the lonely. I made this card with a lonely person in mind.

I went to my club room where I do the fun part of my work, creating cards or scrapbook pages or even home decor items. I just couldn't get with the program. Going to Mojo Monday and Color Dare Color Challenge, I got inspired with the sketch and the pretty colors. The sketch brought a shaker card to mind. And that's where the seed starts to grow. The rest was just me having fun.

Here's my card:

I added a little addition of silver Shimmer trim.

Here are the supplies I used to create this card:
  1. Butterfly Friendship stamp and thin cut set
  2. ShakerWindow Thin cuts set
  3. Feels Like Home paper
  4. Sugar Plum ink pad
  5. Intense Black ink pad
  6. Shaker Window Foam and Acetate
  7. Loose Sequins
  8. White cards and envelopes
  9. Silver Shimmer Trim
Please feel free to leave a comment. I would LOVE to hear from you!

How I Record My Videos for Scrapbooking

I made a video showing how I record the videos for my YouTube, blog and Facebook pages. The entire set-up including recording equipment, table, lighting, backdrop, booms along with my computer software and microphone are shown and explained.

Here's where I got the idea! This website has all the equipment shown in my video and where to get everything!

I Heart Us Subscription Scrapbooking

The I Heart Us kit from our Craft with Heart Subscription Scrapbooking kit would be perfect for any of your Valentines pictures or anytime really. It's cute, light and airy for any of your  lighthearted pictures.

All the kits in the subscription are our Cut Above series meaning there is NO cutting and all you need is adhesive. The kits are all easy to put together and both 2 page layouts can be completed in 45 minutes or so. If you get the year subscription, each month you can put 45 minutes into creating each of these kits, a little more time in adding your pictures monthly, then, at the end of the year you have 24 layouts describing your year. That's 48 12 x 12 pages in all. Add an album to store your layouts and your year is complete!

Here are the 2 layouts:

My video shows you just how easy it is to put the pages together.

Magnolia Frame It Up for National Papercrafting Month

It is National Papercrafting Month and the Close To My Heart special is an easy make it yourself frame with the ever popular Magnolia paper flowers. I created my kit in about 1 1/2 hours using only liquid glass adhesive and a little Tombow adhesive. I glitzed up my flowers with the Clear Shimmer Brush and made my leaves shiny by brushing on liquid glass with a cheap paint brush, neither is a part of the kit.

The kit comes with everything but the adhesive. You choices are whitewash or brown wood paper, and the die cuts of Love or Home. Your choice or something else.

This is how I created mine.

I used a chipboard S and my Block Letters and Numbers Thin Cuts to spell Smith and the married year. That idea was borrowed from another consultant, Jennifer Smith. The S was covered in a discontinued chalk board paper from my stash as was the frame for the 5x7 picture.

Supplies Used:
  1. Frame It Up kit
  2. Thin Cuts Block Alphabet
  3. Thin Cuts Block Numbers
  4. Liquid Glass
  5. Shimmer Brush Clear

It's a New Year and It's Time to get Organized!!

It all started with trying to make a color copy of the Close To My Heart color palette to organize my re-inkers. So long story short, I now have a new printer, and a cleaner more organized office. So call it an early spring cleaning!

Hubby gave me a new video camera for Christmas so I decided to do a hand-held room tour. There's a couple of spots that can make you a little dizzy from me getting too close to things, so please forgive me since this was the maiden voyage of the new camera. :-)

I am hoping as I get rid of older supplies by means of scrapbook sales, I will be able to refine this organization. I need to get rid of LOTS of stamp sets. This is hard because I do get attached to many of them. The upside is so much of the scrapbook sale items are in cubes and crates that I can pick up and go with them.

The Iris boxes with the "pages ready for pictures" are easy for me to pick up and take with me to a retreat.

The old funky albums will disappear when I transfer the pics to new pages and albums. THAT will be NICE!!!

So to sum up my organization, it is a work in progress. The important thing for me is to get past the anxiety (it is hard for me to start something) and start somewhere picking away till you can find the floor or desktop. The organization can't be complicated but it does need to be something that helps you put things back after use in an obvious place.

Here's to the New Year and a good start for all of us!!

Thanks!

Happy Scrapping New Year!!

I am wishing everyone a Happy 2019!

May it be a Healthy year for us all.

I always like to keep up with the color of the year, that being said, the color of 2019 is:

PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral

How can you not love this color?! Yay for Pantone!! Watch now how this color starts showing up everywhere. It'll be in ads, clothes, accessories, home design...everywhere. I think it is a flattering color full of life, it adds warmth to  the glow at sunrise and sunset, it adds beauty in the waters of the seas and oceans, and brings connection in nature. I'll will be adding coral to my life this year.

OK on to other new stuff...

Close To My Heart has a new catalog that is effective TODAY! It is the CTMH 35th Anniversary. Jeanette Lynton is the Founder and CEO of Close To My Heart. She has added beauty and warmth to many of our lives by turning scrapbooking into small works of art. During our 30th Anniversary, CTMH has many spectacular specials with gorgeous papers (some of those are still some favs of mine). Be looking for specials this year and take it from experience talking, if you don't get them early they WILL run out.

Here are some previews of things to come:
