Nothing but blue skies ahead

The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge design made me think of a boat. It's a nice thought for me because I grew up on Long Island and we boated out of  Huntington Harbor, passed Lloyd's Neck and onto Long Island Sound. We fished for blues and went clam digging at low tide. Lots and lots of nice memories with my family. It's hard to live so far inland for so many years. You never get the sounds and smells of the salt water out of your head.

So Thanks for the Memories Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!

Here is the outside of the card:

and the inside:

I created the card from our Regatta papers which are now sold out, unfortunately. The white figure on the waves could either be a sailboat or sailor hat. I always loved wearing my Dad's sailor hat and his navy peacoat. He was in the Coast Guard on the North Atlantic during WWII. He's gone now, so the little hat and the "Nothing but blue skies ahead" is for him.

This does give you an idea though of the make-up of the kits. The zip strips have coordinating borders and sentiments that go along with the papers. The little puffy stickers and the flat stickers add to the kits to make for easy embellishment. The paper pack has 2 sheets of easy to cut up Picture My Life images in 3x4 and 4x6 size. One side is vertical the other side horizontal, perfect for your layouts.

Thanks for walking down memory lane with me.

  1. Beautiful memories. It's what this craft is about at its best. Thank you so much for sharing at AHSC this week.

  2. Absolutely fun, cheery and overall STUNNING card. I loved your blog post, it made me smile-- I am a Maritimer (I'm in Nova Scotia, grew up on New Brunswick) and so I totally "GET" your post. Such a beautiful job. Thanks for joining us over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week! Please come back again soon and often! ~ Ali (AHSC DT) PS can't wait to get into my supply of Regatta papers!

  3. Thank you ladies! Thank you for the inspiration. I never know where a sketch is going to take me!!

  4. Loving the use of regatta with this card- such a clever idea to use the seagull paper on the front too as it really adds some depth to the card. Thanks so much for sharing with us at AHSC.

  5. So cute... I love your theme and how you saw a boat in the sketch! (It's all I can see now!)

  6. These are both so adorable! I love your cruise ship. Thanks for playing along with AHSC!

  7. Love all the embellishments, complements, PML card and design papers you brought together on your card using Regatta...very clever card. I also looked at the sketch and saw the ship; but you did a great job on this interpretation. Thanks for sharing at AHSC and hope you join us this week for the new challenge.

  8. Thank you ladies. I always love your sketches!!

  9. Love the layers and colors and overall calming effect of this card! Thanks so much for sharing with us at AHSC.
