The Sweet Hummingbird stamp set has lovely flowers and two hummingbirds in flight. I loved using the watercolor pencils to blend beautiful blues, greens and purples to create my hummingbird. The lagoon embossed paper from the Blue Skies Coordinating cardstock set off the hummingbird perfectly. The thin cuts make cutting out so easy. The card design is the Mojo Monday challenge 536.
When I started purchasing Close To My Heart Thin Cuts, I thought an easy way to store them was in a 6 x 8 album using 6 x 8 single pocket pages and 6 x 8 pages with 2 horizontal 4 x 6 pockets. That allowed me to quickly flip through the pages and find each particular die. Fast forward to years later and the book, now books became burdensome. I needed to put a more organized method in place.
Because of the large number of Thin Cuts I've purchased over several years, the search for a particular Close To My Heart Thin Cut die was becoming tedious and time consuming. I decided to take the time to group and separate them and label the albums with something more specific than "Thin Cuts". After pulling the 6 x 8 albums out of the cabinet in my club room, I started sorting the 6 x 8 pages that I store the stand alone thin cuts. The albums have become heavy and cumbersome because of the metal and magnetic sheets. The sets of stamps with thin cuts are kept together in CTMH stamp organizers.
As I started making stacks, it became clear to me to separate the letters and word dies from the basic shapes. Then the basic shapes were separated from the fancier dies. So the borders, scallops, leaves, snowflakes, etc. have their own book. At some point I will probably make a 4th album of just nature shapes-flowers, leaves and such. My video is a fairly quick view of the simple process I went through to make my life a little simpler. My Brother P-touch label maker is indispensable for me. I love labeling stuff!!
I haven't made a Z-fold card in a long time. I got reminded about this cute card design from my upline, Janene Wawro. Close To My Heart's beautiful new paper collection, Blue Skies, makes me want to make everything I can using it. So here we go! Here are the measurements for cutting scoring:
Big Z Card base: cut4 1/4 x 11 score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2
Small Z Card front: 3 1/2 x 9 3/4 score at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2
Big Z Decorative Base pieces: front 4 1/4 x 2 1/2, middle 4 1/4 x 2 1/2, back 4 1/4 x 5 1/4
Small Z decorative and writing pieces: 3 1/4 x 4, 3 1/4 x 2 1/2,3 1/4 x 2 1/2
I created this layout using the Special for May 2020, Blue Skies. These are beautiful papers and coordinating UV glossy cardstock. I used the challenge layout on my Facebook Group: Dot's Scrapbooking Group. This special is available until May 31, 2020. There is every selection and combination of coordinating products. I was inspired by a layout on page 31 of the March-April 2020 Close To My Heart catalog. It's a sunburst with rainbow paper as the rays. We have a stamp and thincut set that has a vintage VW bus with lots of flowers, hearts and music symbols. It's so 60's-70's. So cute!! The sunburst overlay is from the Artbooking collection that can be purchased on dorothy.ctmh.com and clicking on the Cricut tab at the bottom of the front page. The papers I used for this project are discontinued, but any color palette can be used. My interpretation of the layout:

Oh this was fun! My son wanted to look at furniture one Sunday morning, so it became a family outing. We had some fun trying out lounge chairs and sofas with him. We looked at TVs, of course, then some appliances, electronics, all those Nebraska Furniture Mart things. Imagine our surprise when we came across a life size cutout of Shaq! We had fun!! I had such a good time creating this page! That's the fun part of scrapbooking. You get to relive the fun times over and over. Here is the sketch:
This is another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to bring April 2020 to a close. The sketch immediately made me think of a stencil I created using the Artbooking Cricut cartridge. I've since used this stencil repeatedly, so it was worthwhile making it. The colors I used are Close To My Heart Peach and Smoothie. The Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge 366 says to pick a color and use 3 shades of the color for their challenge.
