A New Color Dare Challenge

The new
colormyheartcolordare.blogspot.com/
for the week uses just these few Close To My Heart colors:

  • Ruby
  • Crystal Blue
  • Colonial White
  • White Daisy
I've also gone to MOJO Monday and got inspired from their weekly sketch 396.

The unusual colors to put together in this challenge are the 2 whites. Almost always it is either one or the other, so we are stepping out of the box and being challenged to put both together.

I pulled out one card from my Colonial White Value Pack X1410 (50-5 1/2 x 4 1/4 cards and envelopes).

I proceeded to cut a 5 x 3 3/4 piece of Crystal Blue cardstock from the Whimsey Assortment of Paper Fundamentals z2033  The corner was flipped. The Ruby cardstock rectangle is 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 and the White Daisy cardstock on top of the Ruby is 2 1/4 x 3. The Cricut cut flower and butterfly were both cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.

*When I cut flowers, butterflies, snowflakes or any shape I like, i usually cut many and throw them in a see thru shoe box labelled "Cricut Shapes". That way there are always some waiting to be used.

The stamp sets used for the card are:
The butterfly was stamped on  White Daisy cardstock with the dotted pattern on the triangle in Crystal Blue ink and the banners were stamped on  White Daisy cardstock in Ruby ink then cut out. One banner was stamped with White Daisy ink on Ruby cardstock.

For a little added interest, I used the Marvy® Uchida® LePen™ Journaling Pen to outline the white cardstock rectangle, butterfly and flower and drew the antennae. The flower was distressed in Ruby and the white rectangle in Crystal Blue. I added some first and second generation flowers and the "Hi" in Ruby ink.

The bling in the middle of the flower is discontinued. Any bling of your choice could be used. The bling showing the track of the butterfly was a portion of a Sparkle Clear Flourish-small.

Happy Card Making! I can't believe I used to say "I was NOT interested in making cards." Don't put restrictions on yourself people. I the words of the old lady in a commercial a long time ago, "try it you'll like it"!

Blossom Mother's Day Mini Album

The Blossom papers from Close To My Heart are great for Spring. Sweet little flowers, pretty pale blue background with a "pop" of orange. I thought these papers would make a cheery little gift for Mother's Day. You can fill it with pictures and a gift card, if you'd like. It is only 4" x 4.5", so it is easy to pack in a purse for a new brag album.

Here is the album with the "belly band" to keep it closed:

The open album shows lots of place to put pictures and journaling so Mom can show it to her friends:

The cardstock colors are:

The print paper is from the Blossom paper kit.

I used Glacier and Sunset ink pads to stamp the Happy Mother's Day greeting on the front with the Happy to be Friends C1605 stamp set with a little added bling.

I'm going to go fill it and send it to Mom. WooHoo!!

Look On The Bright Side of Life

The Color Dare challenge for this week is sunny and fun.
Look at these colors:
How can you not get happy with these colors?!
The colors for the Color My Heart Color Dare #138 are:

  • Smoothie
  • Sunset
  • Canary
  • Pear
  • Juniper
  • White Daisy

I got inspired by an easy card from CTMH's Make It From Your Heart Vol. 1  how-to book. I use both vol. 1 and Make It From Your Heart vol. 2 all the time!! Such great ideas.

Here it is:

Using the Whimsy Paper Fundamentals Assortment, I cut 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" squares from the 5 colors and made diagonal cuts, rounding the non-cut corners, and flipping one side over. The stripped square was made by covering a white square with our new Carnival and Boardwalk Washi tape pack that are 3/8" wide. Look On The Bright Side is a segment of the new Carnival Washi Tape pack cut out and put on white cardstock to make is "pop". The horizontal stripes are the Carnival Washi Tape pack put on a separate piece of cardstock and adhered to the card.

A little bling and there you have it!

Thanks for Looking!!

Mother's Day is Just Around the Corner

Close To My Heart has a Lovely Mother's Day stamp set just in time to make cards and even use if you are taking your Mother for a special outing and you will be taking pictures to go on a scrapbook layout. It will be perfect for all of your creations!
Flowers for Mom B1473

I LOVE it! and you may notice there is a red line around the main stamp which means it is a special Cricut cut from the Artfully Sent Cartridge.

One of my club ladies is from England and I can't wait to tell her about this stamp!!  PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flowers for Mum B1474

What I really love are the solid and open stamps to choose from allowing either a solid color or with the open images you get to use the wonderful Shin Han markers coloring the flowers in multiple colors and hues.
  • It is important to remember when you are coloring with the markers it is best to stamp any open stamp with the Archival Black stamp pad for a permanent image that won't run into your marker colors.

Here are a couple of ideas to get your creative juices aflowin':

Easy Cards and My Hubby was Framed!!

More from the Jackson Papers

After creating two 2-page layouts from the Jackson Workshop On The Go, I had paper left that I wanted to use. My goal is to use all the paper from each WOTG so I have less to store [due to limited space and organizational skills ;-)].

The Jackson paper lends itself to guys so here are two cards that I created that are great for any guys in your life:

  • The top card was made from a background and texture (B&T) cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 then scored at 4 1/4 and folded in half. The 3 banner pieces were cut at 1 1/2 X 4 1/4 with the triangles cut out. The "Hello" greeting is a Picture My Life Jackson Z3068 card cut down and matted with B&T leftover matching the card then matted again with bronze glitter paper. You can make the mats bigger or smaller for your liking. I corner rounded all the edges.

  • The bottom card was made from a colonial white cardstock cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 then folded in half. The B&T strips are 2 X 4 1/4. The border covering the seam between the B&Ts is a border strip from the Jackson Complements and the glacier blue 1/4" strips are from the new Waschi tapes in the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book. The greeting is the new Operation Smile stamp set called Happy Everything D1653. It was stamped in Desert Sand on Jackson B&T 1 3/4 X 2 and given a 1/8" mat all around with Juniper cardstock. The three embellishments on top are from the Brave Enamel Shapes self-stick and so easy to use.

Jim Was Framed!!

So I still had cardstock and B&T left so I went into the recesses of the brain and pulled out an old 5 minute layout I used to have my first club do. Cut 2 each pieces of two different but coordinating B&Ts from the WOTG into 6 X 6 and adhere them to cardstock diagonally from each other. My B&T leftovers were a little too small but 5 1/2 X 5 1/2 worked so I did the cuts and put them on contrasting Chocolate cardstock

This is how it turned out after I added stickers from the Jackson Complements:

The Juniper cardstock in the middle is 6 X 8 which is perfect for the 5 X 7 picture I took of my Hubby at the Dallas Arboretum. I couldn't have planned a better match of colors for this picture. Just so you know, I didn't plan this it just worked! I find that so often with the Close To My Heart papers.

Hope you enjoyed your visit!

Please consider shopping with me and if you are really interested in scrapbooking consider joining my team and teaching others how to have this much fun!!
